If you appreciate the look and feel of wood and true craftsmanship, and are looking for something that reflects the quality of your taste, then you have come to the right place. In my own designs I strive to reveal the natural color and grain that is in the wood. To meet this end, I use finishes that protect the wood while allowing the natural beauty to stand out. My favorite designs are those that are inspired by the wood itself. However, I design furniture that is to be used, not just looked at. The ash table pictured above was built around the elliptical grain in the piece of wood that became the drawer front. A lone piece of figured walnut became the drawer front that inspired the walnut table around it. The large dinner table came about as a means to use a few unusually curly grained oak boards.
I am Fred Ingate, owner of Into The Woods Custom Woodwork. I have been a woodworker most of my life. Wood and the trees it comes from have always fascinated me. It was only natural that I would be drawn to working in wood, compelled to reveal the beauty that is under the bark and in the wood. Thus, "Into the Woods."
When I say I love trees, their wood, and nature and woodworking, I mean it. I can't bring myself to throw away a piece of wood when I think of what and where it came from. I always find some way to use it. That's one reason why I believe in well-made, custom woodwork and furniture that will last a lifetime and for generations to come.
